Young Derbyshire Batter Signs New Deal

Derbyshire batter Yousuf Bin Naeem, who has come through the Academy Pathway has signed a two-year extension to his contract which takes the 20-year-old’s stay at the county until the end of the 2028 season.
Bin Naeem has featured in all formats for Derbyshire this season and made his first half-century on first-class debut against Gloucestershire at Bristol at the start of the month.
Speaking to the official Derbyshire County Cricket Club website, Head of Cricket, Mickey Arthur said: Yousaf has shown real drive and determination to keep improving and I’m pleased he will continue his development with us for the next two seasons.
“He’s impressed everyone with his workrate, he’s always trying to improve and he’s establishing himself as a first-team player now, someone who we can rely on.”
Bin Naeem added: “I’m proud of the progress I’ve made this summer, playing in all formats is massive for me and I’m learning all the time. The squad and coaches are brilliant to learn from and they’ve helped me a lot.
“To represent my county is a dream come true and I’m excited to see what we can achieve over the next two years”.
Bin Naeem joins bowler Pat Brown in signing a new deal in recent weeks as Derbyshire look to stabilise their squad for next season. The batter was included in the 13-man squad for the trip to Worcestershire this week as the Falcons look to finish their season with a win and the opportunity to finish fourth in the Rothesay County Championship table.
