Young bowler ruled out for second season

Moore, who turns 19 on Sunday, last played a competitive match in February 2025 during England U19’s tour to South Africa. Moore was expected to feature for Birmingham Phoenix in the Hundred in that summer.
The Repton schooled scholar made his Derbyshire debut as a 16-year-old in a List A game and was becoming a regular at international level at Under 19. Moore has taken 12 wickets in his 19 Metro-Bank Cup appearances for the county, and took six wickets in his three County Championship matches at the end of the 2024 season.
Derbyshire announced on Wednesday (22nd April 2026), that Moore will miss a second successive season: “The injury is a re-occurance of the one which kept Moore out for the entire 2025 season,” the club said in a statement. “He will work closely with the club's medical team throughout the recovery process with the aim of being available for the 2027 season.”
It’s a blow for the 6ft 7in teenager, who thought he had recovered from the initial injury when training in pre-season. Moore was also training with the England Lions during the winter.
