Whiteley Signs New Deal but Three Depart
05.10.26, 11:55 2 Minute Read
Whiteley amassed 288 runs in the T20 Blast in the 2026 campaign at an average of 32 with a high score of 46 and took nine catches. The Sheffield-born big hitter re-joined Derbyshire in 2024 after spells away with Worcestershire and Hampshire, plus T20 franchises around the world.
Derbyshire disappointed in the T20 season, again missing out on the knockout stages they last reached in 2022. Whiteley’s contract extension means a small piece of continuity as Derbyshire look to reach finals day for the first time since 2019 under the leadership of Billy Godleman.
With Wayne Madsen retiring from T20 cricket, Derbyshire will require some experience in the group as they look to progress further than their 2026 season. Derbyshire will hopefully have Zak Chappell, Pat Brown and Harry Moore all returning to the bowling attack for next season.
