Morley Signs New Deal At Derbyshire

Jack Morley has signed a new contract extension at Derbyshire, which keeps the left-arm spinner committed to the club until the end of the 2028 season.
While Morley hasn’t played in a County Championship Division Two game yet this year, the 24 year-old has featured prominently for Derbyshire Falcons during their Vitality Blast campaign in the T20 format. The former Lancashire player has performed well during the first half of the group stage and is currently Derbyshire’s leading wicket taker in this year’s competition. The spinner has taken 10 wickets so far with a bowling average of 17.20. His best match figures was the 4-44 that he achieved in the North Group match away at Yorkshire.
The new deal is a clear seal of approval from Mickey Arthur regarding his contributions with the white ball and evidence that Morley is in the Head of Cricket’s long-term plans.
Morley played on loan for Derbyshire during the 2024 season, before making a permanent switch to the club from Lancashire ahead of the 2025 campaign.
Derbyshire are next in action on Friday when they take on Morley’s former club at Queen’s Park in Division Two of the County Championship. The contest marks the start of the popular Chesterfield Festival of Cricket which takes place annually.
Mickey Arthur’s side will be desperate to return to winning ways in the red ball game after being comprehensively beaten by an innings and 22 runs by Durham at Banks Homes Riverside in their most recent match.
