Derbyshire Falcons Women returned to winning ways in League Two of the Women’s Vitality Blast after beating Worcestershire Rapids Women by seven wickets at Visit Worcestershire New Road. This result means that Jon Dyson’s side have already equalled the amount of matches they won in last year’s competition.
The visitors won the toss and elected to field first. The Falcons took control of the game early on with their disciplined bowling; restricting their opponents’ run rate while wickets repeatedly arrived at timely moments to stop the Rapids from gaining any proper momentum.
Thanks to this, the highest individual score of the innings was only the 21 registered by Sophia Mitchell. Derbyshire’s best bowling performance came from captain Adrianna Darlow who took excellent figures of 4-15, while Francesca Clarke also impressed with 2-20 which included the wicket of Mitchell to leave the hosts on 86-5 from 14.2 overs.
