Super Stokes Seals Win For Durham Over Falcons

A defiant unbeaten century from Ben Stokes secured a five wicket victory for Durham over Derbyshire Falcons at The OurCoop County Ground in Group B of the Metro Bank One-Day Cup.
The Falcons won the toss and elected to bat first. Mickey Arthur's side made a promising start to their innings. Despite the early loss of skipper Harry Came, a second-wicket partnership of 112 between Martin Andersson and Brooke Guest gave the hosts an excellent platform to build on for the later stages of their overall innings.
When Guest was dismissed just before he could reach a half century, veteran batter Wayne Madsen kept up the momentum and scored at almost a run a ball at the crease alongside Andersson. However, the wicket of Madsen sparked a disappointing batting collapse from the Falcons. This was the first of six wickets that fell over the space of 45 runs scored. With the score moving from 181-2 to 226-8, the East Midlands outfit found themselves in a real spot of bother.
