The points were shared between Derbyshire Falcons and Lancashire Lightning at Emirates Old Trafford in the North Group of the Vitality Blast, as another nail-biting final over in the competition resulted in a tied game. Just like the tied outcome against Yorkshire at Queen's Park, both sides were left to reflect on missed opportunities that saw a victory slip through their fingers.
With one change made from their most recent match (Jack Morley in for Ben Aitchison), Derbyshire won the toss and elected to bat first. T20 captain Nye Donald started aggressively and on the front foot as always, but despite a couple of early sixes, fell for 19 off 10 balls. England legend James Anderson then struck again to dismiss Yousaf Bin Naeem for a score of seven, to claim his second wicket of the evening. Wayne Madsen's departure for 13 saw the visitors on 66-3 after 7.5 overs, with the opening stages of the match finely poised.
