Derbyshire Falcons Women lost to Middlesex Women by 64 runs at Merchant Taylors’ School in League Two of the Women’s Vitality Blast earlier today. In what was always going to be a stern test for the visitors, Middlesex were simply too strong for the Falcons throughout the game and comfortably claimed maximum points.
The Falcons won the toss and elected to bowl first. An opening partnership of 85 between Pippa Sproul and Finty Trussler gave the hosts an excellent platform to build on, and they never really looked back from there. At the end of their 20 overs, Middlesex reached 154-3 with Sproul achieving an outstanding unbeaten score of 83 from 57 deliveries, which included 11 boundaries. On a tough day for the Derbyshire bowling attack, Prisha Bedi starred with figures of 1-19 from her four overs.
