Derbyshire Falcons Women lost to Gloucestershire Women by 37 runs earlier today at Queen’s Park in League Two of the Women’s Vitality Blast. While there were positives to take for Jon Dyson’s side, there will also be frustration at multiple dropped catches and a very low-scoring powerplay with the bat that left the team with a mountain to climb.
The Falcons won the toss in glorious summer conditions and elected to bowl first. While wickets fell at a consistent rate at the start and end of their innings, the visitors maintained an impressive run rate throughout their allotted 20 overs to reach 172-8.
