A very strong Derbyshire Falcons side lost to Leicestershire Foxes by three wickets in baking hot conditions earlier today at Donald Hawley Way in the North Group of the Second XI T20 Cup. The result marks Derbyshire’s first defeat in this year’s competition.
It was made clear right from the off just how seriously the hosts were taking this game, as soon as the starting line-ups were confirmed. With the inclusions of the likes of Nye Donald, Ben Aitchison, Martin Andersson, Matt Montgomery and Ross Whiteley, Derbyshire were clearly determined to get as much game time as possible for their first-choice T20 players ahead of their crucial Vitality Blast North Group game this Sunday against Yorkshire at Queen’s Park.
