Derbyshire Falcons beat East Midlands rivals Notts Outlaws by 23 runs in the North Group of the Vitality Blast at The Central Co-op County Ground to secure back-to-back victories for Mickey Arthur’s side. After a disappointing start to their T20 campaign, the Falcons now have plenty of momentum behind them in their quest to reach the knockout phase of this competition for the first time since 2022.
The Falcons won the toss and elected to bat first which proved to be an inspired decision. Derbyshire started their innings in devastating fashion as openers Nye Donald and Martin Andersson reached a century partnership off 42 balls. The ferocious opening stand (which included a stunning 32 runs from a single over) came to an end when Donald was caught out on 84. The captain’s rapid contribution gave the Falcons a superb platform to build on and Donald will be delighted to have recorded his first half century of this year’s Vitality Blast campaign. In typical fashion, the wicketkeeper only needed 20 balls to reach that landmark.
