This was the Falcons’ third loss in their last four T20 matches and while Derbyshire’s attempt to score Lancashire’s 205 was valiant it wasn’t enough to grab the four points the Falcons so desperately needed.
Lancashire were without England stars Jos Buttler, Phil Salt, Saqib Mahmood and Luke Wood who were up in the North-East facing India in England’s opening T20 international. Derbyshire selected the same side that drew against Yorkshire on Sunday at Chesterfield.
Derbyshire had Lancashire in a tight squeeze when the loss of Liam Livingstone reduced the red rose county to 41-3. The visitors recovered largely thanks to a splendid knocks from their overseas pair of Pakistan international Shadab Khan who scored 58 and Australian former Derbyshire player, Ben McDermott (68).
