Derbyshire Falcons lost to Notts Outlaws by eight wickets earlier today in the North Group of the Second XI T20 Cup at Repton School. The defeat in their last group match means that the Falcons cannot advance to finals day in the competition.
The visitors won the toss and elected to bowl first, which proved to be an inspired decision. The hosts struggled right from the beginning and the early wickets of Harry Came, Mitch Wagstaff, Brooke Guest and Anuj Dal left the Falcons on 14-4 from 2.2 overs.
A fifth-wicket partnership of 42 from Luis Reece and Ajay Khunti gave Derbyshire a glimmer of hope. However, the dismissal of Reece for 15 was soon followed by the wickets of Khunti, Jack Morley and Jake Green.
