Mickey Arthur’s men side won their first championship game of the season in a convincing victory over Northamptonshire by an innings and 113 runs. Centuries from Martin Andersson and Brooke Guest saw Derbyshire score over 600 for the second time this season and the third time in their last six first-class fixtures.
Super bowling from Zak Chappell, Ben Aitichison, Rory Haydon and Shoaib Bashir saw Derbyshire complete victory in the final session of day four in a thrilling end to the game.
Derbyshire have failed to win back-to-back first class fixtures since 2020 in the Bob Willis Trophy and even further in the County Championship when a pair of wins over Glamorgan and Northamptonshire in 2018 saw the Falcons pick up a rare duo of victories.
