Australian overseas batter Caleb Jewell smashed his way back into form with a 44-ball 93, coupled with a useful 45 from Matthew Montgomery, Derbyshire set an imposing 233 for eight from their 20 overs. Spinner Jack Morley picked up four wickets as Derbyshire dominated in the field, winning by 91 runs against the national county side.
Derbyshire finished bottom of the Vitality Blast North Group last season, collecting just four wins in their 14 games. There are two fewer games this season and Derbyshire know a fast start coupled with some good performances could see Mickey Arthur’s side reach only a second finals day in their T20 history.
