Derbyshire Falcons' dismal run of form in this year's Vitality Blast continued on Friday evening with an agonising five run defeat to Durham at Banks Homes Riverside. The loss means that the Falcons have now gone seven successive games without a win in the T20 competition.
The hosts won the toss and elected to bat first as Derbyshire named an unchanged side from the one that competed against Somerset on Wednesday night. Overall, Mickey Arthur's side performed well with the ball and this was certainly one of their best bowling performances of the whole campaign.
Durham reached 165-7 from their 20 overs, with Colin Ackermann's unbeaten knock of 69 from 44 deliveries the clear highlight. Derbyshire's star bowler was undoubtedly Akif Javed who produced his best performance in a Falcons shirt. His figures of 3-30 included a remarkable double wicket maiden for the fifth over of Durham's innings. Elsewhere, Nick Potts recorded pleasing figures of 2-27.
