Derbyshire Falcons Women are through to the third round of the Vitality Women’s T20 County Cup after defeating third-tier Cumbria Women by seven wickets at The Copper Yard in Denby.

Jon Dyson’s side won the toss and elected to field first which proved to be an inspired decision. The visitors started well and found themselves on 53-1 after 6.2 overs. However, the wicket of Niamh Muir changed the dynamic of the contest drastically. Suddenly, Cumbria Women were struggling on 94-8 with just two overs remaining. The visitors managed to bat out the full 20 overs without losing any further wickets but could only set a modest target of 103 for Derbyshire Falcons Women to chase.
