Nigel Mallender, the chairman of Chesterfield Cricket Club, spoke to The Peakite on Sunday to discuss how happy he was with the 2026 edition of the Chesterfield Festival of Cricket at Queen's Park.

The festival began with a brilliant nine wicket victory for Derbyshire over Lancashire in Division Two of the County Championship. This marked Derbyshire's first red ball victory at Queen's Park since 2022. Following on from that, The Blaze defeated Yorkshire Women by four wickets in League One of the Metro Bank Women's One-Day Cup. On the penultimate day of the festival, Derbyshire Falcons Women lost to Gloucestershire Women by 37 runs in League Two of the Women's Vitality Blast. Finally, on an astonishing final day, the Vitality Blast North Group game between Derbyshire Falcons and Yorkshire went down to the very last ball and ended as a tied match.
