Looking Back: Last Five One-Day Cup Opening Matches

Derbyshire Falcons get this year's Metro Bank One-Day Cup campaign underway on Tuesday 21st July when they host Durham at The OurCoop County Ground. The club haven't had much to shout about in the 50 over competition in recent times, with no knockout phase appearance since 2014. Hopefully, 2026 is the year that Derbyshire can finally turn their fortunes around in this tournament.
Like last year, the 18 counties have been split into two national groups of nine teams. This year, Derbyshire Falcons will face Durham, Essex, Glamorgan, Hampshire, Middlesex, Sussex (already deducted two points after agreeing to a financial support package from the ECB), Worcestershire Rapids and Yorkshire in Group B. After every team has played each other once in their group in a round robin format, the top three sides from both groups will advance to the knockout phase; the first placed clubs will advance straight to the semi-finals, while both second and third placed clubs will have to go through the quarter-finals before reaching the last four.
