Looking Back: Derbyshire With The Red Ball At Queen's Park

Global sporting attention may well be focused on the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup and the FIFA World Cup right now; but for Derbyshire, the focus is very much on a much-loved and cherished local annual showcase of bat and ball. We’re talking of course about the Chesterfield Festival of Cricket at one of England’s most scenic cricket venues: Queen’s Park.
The festival has become a staple of the local sporting summer and continues to increase in popularity as each year passes. It’s safe to say that we at The Peakite can’t wait for the 2026 edition to start!
From tomorrow until Monday of next week, Derbyshire will be in action against Lancashire in Division Two of the County Championship as Mickey Arthur’s side attempt to return to winning ways after a heavy red ball defeat away at Durham in their most recent match. The following day will see The Blaze take on Yorkshire Women in League One of the Metro Bank Women’s One-Day Cup. On Saturday 27th June, Derbyshire Falcons Women will face Gloucestershire Women in League Two of the Women’s Vitality Blast, while the next day sees the festival end with the Vitality Blast North Group match between Derbyshire Falcons and Yorkshire.
