The 2025 season marked a significant revamp of the domestic women’s game with Derbyshire Falcons Women placed in the second tier of both the Women’s T20 Blast and Metro Bank Women’s One-Day Cup competitions. This was a step into new territory for the Falcons where, up against very tough competition, the focus was more on gaining vital experience as part of a huge learning curve, to prepare themselves for the next few seasons ahead.

Derbyshire Falcons Women managed to secure two victories from eight games in the North Group of League Two in the Women’s T20 Blast, but ended up winless from nine games in League Two of the Metro Bank Women’s One-Day Cup against opposition that frequently had far more experience at this level or even above. The Falcons also suffered a first round exit against formidable opponents in Yorkshire Women in the Women’s T20 County Cup. While victories were few and far between, the team still made history and there are a number of positive signs that there will be more wins to look forward to for the upcoming 2026 campaign.

Derbyshire Falcons Women start their new season on Sunday 12th April at The Central Co-op County Ground against Middlesex Women in the Metro Bank Women’s One-Day Cup.
