Derbyshire bowler Zak Chappell, who signed a new contract with the club in the summer, is looking forward to the up and coming campaign. The 29-year-old extended his time with the club until the end of the 2028 summer.

Chappell was an ever-present in the 2025 County Championship team which narrowly missed out on promotion. Mickey Arthur’s side finished third in Division Two, five points behind promoted Glamorgan and Chappell thinks Derbyshire could be challenging again.

”I think the boys are good to go, personally we seem good to go and try and get a win early doors.”

“Pre-season has been good, obviously we couldn’t get away to Zimbabwe due to what’s going on, but we went away to Spain and got what we could out of it. The bowlers got some overs in and the batters had a nice hit and we’re all good to go. We were lucky last season (with the weather), but there have been a few seasons where it’s been a wash out.”
